Going Back To A Rental?

So the home I am in the process of buying was listed as a single family but has the capacity for a two unit that it was for the owner previous to the owner's i'm buying from. I know I'm probably going to have to sit down with a real estate attorney but what is the general process I need to go through to make this back into a 2 unit property. Thanks
